SHAÏNY VILO

England based, Shaïny Vilo is a french black artist currently focusing in photography to document and explore identities surrounding them. AFRO+PUNK, is an autobiographical project depicting a journey through the exploration of black identities in the alternative community and the struggles and complexities faced whilst in the middle. Inspired by Grace Wales Bonner, Adam Pendleton and Basquiat, this project provocatively addresses identity, race and sexuality through symbolism and a small essay piece in hope for other black alternative people to look back at and relate to it.
I believe that my role as a black queer artists right now is to just create to show awarness or create to just exist.
